Ella Baker Center for Human Rights

The Ella Baker Center organizes to shift resources away from prisons and punishment towards opportunities that make our communities safe, healthy, and strong. Named after civil rights hero Ella Baker, the center mobilizes Black, Brown, and low-income people to build power and prosperity in our communities.

EBC’s Night Out for Safety and Liberation (NOSL) invites artists and community members to reimagine safety – moving away from policing and prisons, and towards rights and opportunities for all to thrive. Working with local partners, the center's annual NOSL celebration uplifts this vision of safety in 50+ communities across the country.
